“Jerry Folk’s forward-thinking, genre-bending production has only gotten better and more captivating over the years.” – Run The Trap
“A lugubrious, atmospheric experience, it draws on a dark spell in the electronic musician’s life, while encouraging him to look outwards.” – CLASH Magazine
[On ‘Everything’] “This latest offering finds Jerry tapping into a more sedative sound. Mesmeric loops progressively build, sinking us deeper into the beat in preparation for the wave of synths to come.” – This Song Is Sick
[On Jerry Folk] “if that funky, indie, disco-tinged sound is up your alley, he’s definitely one name to look into” – Complex
“This young Norwegian is certainly on his A-game and we can’t wait to see what else he comes up with” – Highsnobiety
“Meshing the sprightly leads of his Scandinavian counterparts with his appreciation for expressive r’n’b vocals, funk and Soulection-esque hip hop stylings, he concocted a delectable dancefloor formula” – Mixmag
“With different elements harmonically lifting each layer of Jerry Folk’s pleasing new project, the musician showcases his ability to create narratives that listeners can easily get lost in.” – Dancing Astronaut
“He’s A Genre-defying Genius” – Your EDM
“We’re grooving to a fine beat with some whirrs and wails and a beautiful upper range vocal treatment. These chords are satisfying.” – Magnetic Magazine
“Press play and let the hypnosis begin, as you are gradually introduced to Folk’s funkadelic world with smooth-R&B tinged beats and dashes of bright synthesizers.”– Ones To Watch
Noteworthy electronic producer Jerry Folk has released his latest single, ‘Ferris Wheel’ with his side project FENGSEL featuring singer Alva Ravn via Folkestad Recordings. The single follows the release of ‘Everything,’ ‘On My Way ft. Bearson’ and ‘Dotted Red,’ which all mark a new direction for Jerry Folk’s sound and precede the release of his first full-length later this year. Jerry Folk has remixed the likes of Billie Eilish, Charlie Puth and Oh Wonder and produced for artists like Alina Baraz, Axwell Ingrosso and Lemaitre, to name but a few. Having toured the US multiple times, Jerry Folk has opened for Odesza, played at Coachella and the Mixmag lab twice and earned over 222 million plays across streaming platforms.
Oslo born and based, Jerry Folk has always been a traveller at heart, having lived in Islington, London as a baby for six months and frequently returning to visit friends and family. For nearly three years, the artist also found himself living in LA. The producer has received support from publications such as Clash Magazine, Complex, Highsnobiety, Dancing Astronaut, Ones To Watch, Your EDM, This Song Is Sick, Run The Trap and Magnetic Magazine, to name a few.
As he embarks on his new journey, Jerry Folk finds inspiration in artists from the Soulection roster, Toro Y Moi, James Blake, Majid Jordan and Flume. ‘Ferris Wheel’ calls to mind a delicate combination of London Grammar, Billie Eilish and Halsey. Alva Ravn is an Oslo-born singer, writer and producer based in Copenhagen, whose dream-pop, soul-pop and R&B sensibilities quickly set her apart from other industry veterans.
Jerry Folk explores the complex nature of childhood, loss and coming to terms with the inevitable in his latest single. ‘Ferris Wheel’ explores the highs, lows and endless intricacies that life has to offer – encasing each emotion in the gentle voice of Alva Ravn and bundling the creation together in caressing electronic tones. Encompassing contemplation, reflection and the gentle feeling of running your fingers through a loved ones hair, the timeless untouched simplicity found within Jerry Folk’s latest single reveals an intimate tone from the producer that has been unseen before now.
The musician gives us a breakdown of his latest release: “Alva is a friend I met in high school and we have been writing a lot of music lately. Ferris Wheel is probably my favorite so far we’ve done together.”
