Time’s almost up.
Based out of Wisconsin, the self-proclaimed “dysfunctional duo” of TOCK recently premiered their new song “MACHINE.”
The act consists of members Joel Tock and Steve Laxton, their respective diverse musical backgrounds in a fruitful collision of alt/pop-rock glory.
The Music Bugle had the chance to talk with the duo about “MACHINE” and more.
Music Bugle – How would you describe Wisconsin to someone who has never been there before?
Steve Laxton – Much more beautiful than most people tend to think.
Music Bugle – What excites you the most about your style of music?
Joel Tock – Mainly what it sounds like.
Music Bugle – What is the hardest challenge in being a musical duo?
Steve Laxton – Joel.
Joel Tock – Steve.
Music Bugle – Besides the obvious, was there anything else that inspired the “TOCK” name and stylization?
Steve Laxton – Everything else was taken.
Music Bugle – What made you want to release “Machine” as a single?
Steve Laxton – The recording was finished.
Music Bugle – Does social media help or hurt musicians?
Joel – Yes, absolutely!
Music Bugle – What has been your most memorable moment while at a show?
Joel Tock – Stage diving and touching fans on a deep emotional level.
Music Bugle – Where are your favorite places to travel to?
Steve Laxton – Wisconsin, lately.
Music Bugle – How have you been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic?
Joel Tock – Well, for starters, we haven’t been able to get out and perform our music. We’ve had to keep it simple. Looking forward to playing gigs!
Music Bugle – Where do you go when you need a break?
Joel Tock – Our studio.
Steve Laxton – Yep, studio.
