Forbidden Myth – the musical project of Antonis Adelfidis – recently dropped the lyric video for their second single “Rotting King,” which will be a part of their upcoming epic rock concept album ‘Zantea Chronicles: The Dream Dominator,’ slated for release in Spring 2021.
The song also features Jim Koidakis as the Storyteller/vocalist, Moss “The Boss” Kordakis as Vosar/vocalist, Antonis Komninos as Morzan/vocalist, multi-instrumentalist George Katsanos on Vox Continental, The Swede on drums, with Adelfidis handling the rest, as well as the recording and mixing.
The Music Bugle spoke with Adelfidis about the album and more.
Music Bugle – What made you go with “A Ring Between Her Eyes” for your first single choice?
Antonis Adelfidis – I believe this song is a representative sample of this record. It has fast and slow parts, distorted riffs and piano melodies and an “epic” and “progressive” feel. I had chosen it for the first single by the time I had composed it!
Music Bugle – What was it like making your album ‘Zantea Chronicles: The Dream Dominator’?
Antonis Adelfidis – It is one of the most fun and creative periods of my life. From the Summer of 2019 when Myrto Gregoriadi – a very talented young writer and musician – gave me the story, until now that I am mixing the album, it has been a fantastic time and I want to thank all of my friends – musicians, singers, sound engineers and artwork makers – that have helped me finish this music work!
Music Bugle – What inspired the name “Forbidden Myth”?
Antonis Adelfidis – I was in search for names from Greek mythology to title this project. All of them that I liked were used by other bands, so I chose “Forbidden Myth.” I like the mystery that the word “Forbidden” exhales…
Music Bugle – How have you been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic?
Antonis Adelfidis – I took advantage from this strange situation and managed to finish this record. I was, as all of us, closed to my house for many hours, so I worked more on this project.
Music Bugle – Where do you go when you need to escape?
Antonis Adelfidis – I am not a fan of travels, so I play and write music while also experimenting with words and sounds. This is my “escape room.”
Music Bugle – Away from music, what’s something people might be surprised to know about you?
Antonis Adelfidis – No surprises. I am an ordinary man, day job, father of a teenager… I like to read, to exercise and to play retro video games!
Music Bugle – What has been your biggest challenge lately?
Antonis Adelfidis – To finish this album. It has been the biggest challenge of my life, music-wise, until the next one…
Music Bugle – What do you hope for in 2021?
Antonis Adelfidis – I wish for health and happiness for everyone. I wish to take our lives back and start to live normally again. I hope we meet each other soon, without fear and social distancing.
Music Bugle – What’s a quote that motivates you to keep doing what you do?
Antonis Adelfidis – Life-wise, “What doesn’t kill me makes me stronger.” In terms of music, “Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything,” from Plato.
Music Bugle – Who are you listening to right now, music-wise?
Antonis Adelfidis – When I write a new record, I do not listen to a lot of music because I have no time to do it and I do not want to be affected by other songs. When I listen to music, I want to focus on it. Overall, I listen to modern Greek pop and rock music and from electro pop to heavy metal in the international scene.
