“Amber T – how brilliant is she” Elton John

“Shaken” is the brand new single from Singer/songwriter Amber T and South Coast indie/rock 4-piece Galaxy Thief consisting of George Bowerman, Ben Watton, Jamie Eldridge and Jake Trim.

Having never co-written with each other before, both sides thought it was a good idea to shake things up a bit, entering into a New Year and new hope for things to improve in 2021. The result is the brilliant “SHAKEN” an emotionally charged, indie pop masterpiece, sublime vocals with a flavour of Stevie Nicks and exceptional musicianship with influences from the likes of The 1975, Pale Waves, Nothing But Thieves, etc.

The collaboration for the single came about during the lockdown and is a reflection of the creativity and dedication to keep working despite the cancellation of gigs and performing in 2020. Sharing their ideas for the new track online and via Zoom, Amber and the GT boys were able to overcome the obstacles of long distance writing with their unstoppable creative talent; the result, after much writing, disagreements, laughter and banter was the brilliant “’SHAKEN’” The wait was then on for the lockdown to be relaxed before being able to record the track with producer Michael Smith at RYP Recordings (Weird Milk/Honey Lung/Bess Atwell, etc).

Galaxy Thief and Amber are no strangers and have been performing together for the past couple of years at various festivals across the UK, including a Sold out Teenage Cancer Trust show that Amber put on with GT as the main support act as well as being her band for the show. They even recorded a fun YouTube cover video of Sam Smith’s “Promises” hit back when Amber was 15.

South Coast-based Galaxy Thief had been performing throughout the UK (pre Covid) and have notched up over 100 live performances including Bestival, the main stage at the British Grand Prix and London venues including Camden Assembly, Fiddlers Elbow, etc. plus they’ve headlined Southampton Xmas Lights and gigs in Glasgow, Birmingham, Manchester. They released their EP “Fires You Can’t Put Out” end of 2019, which included the brilliant song “Better,” which has had over 100,000 streams on Spotify. They have also just recently released an Alternative version of the EP with acoustic versions on all streaming sites to great acclaim. The band are regularly supported on their local BBC Introducing Solent and have performed live sessions for them.

At just 17 years old,  Amber T is already building an impressive back catalogue with the release in 2020 of her self-penned songs “Jigsaw” and “No Company,” both tracks have had over 120,000 Spotify streams and were Tracks of the Day on BBC Introducing The South. “No Company” grabbed the attention of Sir Elton John, who added it to his Rocket Hour show on Apple Music commenting, “Amber T – how brilliant is she.”

Amber has performed various live sessions at BBC Kent and was  interviewed on BBC Radio 1BBC Asian Network and BBC South East News at the age of 15 when she released her debut single “Tick Tock” in 2019. Self-taught on guitar/keyboards, Amber started performing from the age of 8 at Local Mics, she has since clocked up over 200 live gigs.

“Shaken” was released 5th Feb 2021 on Right Track Records.
