Cosmopolis Sécheresse Independent 20 July 2020 |
Moody Art Rock and Post Punk vibrations emanate from newly formed group Cosmopolis, an international collective with core members in Brisbane, Australia, Brussels, Belgium and Canterbury, England..
Sécheresse is the second in a string of releases scheduled for 2020 and 2021. It is the fruit of a writing and recording session in June 2019 in St. Vaast on the Cherbourg peninsula in France. Whereas the first release – God Hotel – had a relentless, pulsing rock vibe, Secheresse is darkly beautiful, haunting and melancholic. As frontman Gavin explains, “Sécheresse – with a refrain of ‘I haven’t got forever’ – conveys the world-weariness of our times: we are simultaneously terrified, but also energised, by knowing that time is running out.” Streaming: Smart Links: More Info: Websites – Artist Biography: Inspired by the European literary magazine of the same name published in London, Paris, Berlin and St. Petersburg during the 1890s, Cosmopolis is a new project built around a core of three musicians from Australia, England and Belgium. Guitarist and multi-instrumentalist Nicolas Payelle is based in Brussels, Belgium. The music is recorded in multiple locations around the world and is arranged, mixed and mastered in the cloud. Cosmopolis will be releasing a string of singles at regular intervals during the second half of 2020 and the first half of 2021. Live concerts are planned for the second half of 2021. |
