Out now via Ineffable Records, DENM's 16-track debut album 'Slum Beach Denny' gets downright autobiographical.
The "next generation artist" further showcases his trademark sound on this release - one that fuses alternative rock, reggae and hip-hop - and successfully captures moments of his life that can only be best explained through groovy highlights like "My Wave," "Blow It Up" and "Life's 2 Short."
The Music Bugle had the chance to chat with the singer/songwriter/producer about 'Slum Beach Denny' and more.
Music Bugle - If you had to describe your newest music in three words, what would they be?
DENM - Hazy blend o’ fun.
Music Bugle - What creative advantages would you say come with being a singer-songwriter and producer?
DENM - I’d say I know how to come up with sounds in my head. I can create whatever I want, if I’m doin' all of it. My madness and wacky details don’t rely on somebody doin' it for me. I just get to do it all and have fun.
Music Bugle - What were some challenges you came across while putting together your debut album 'Slum Beach Denny'?
DENM - Living life! (Laughs)
Music Bugle - Who are you listening to right now, music-wise?
DENM - Lotta Eagles these days.
Music Bugle - What excites you the most about your style of music?
DENM - The fact that I don’t really have one and can just do whatever I want.
Music Bugle - Does social media help or hurt musicians?
DENM - It’s all subjective. Sometimes, it breaks careers. Other times, it breaks hearts.
Music Bugle - Where do you go when you need a break?
DENM - Bike down to the beach.
Music Bugle - What do you attribute your success to?
DENM - God and hard work. Preparation meets opportunity.
Music Bugle - What do you hope for from the rest of 2021?
DENM - For the world to open up and play tons of shows and just get to go do what I love!
Music Bugle - What makes you the most proud about where you come from?
DENM - The people, the attitude, the respect, the love. No place like the West Coast.
