The New York Philharmonic has announced details for the first two installments of The 65th Street Session, a NY Phil presentation in the Wu Tsai Theater. Curated by composer, singer, and mandolin virtuoso Chris Thile, the NY Phil’s 2022–23 Creative Partner, the series brings together artists from across the American musical landscape to celebrate music’s power to express our shared human experience.
The first performance, October 11, 2022, at 7:30 p.m., reunites Thile with past collaborators, Grammy-winning jazz pianist Brad Mehldau and experimental folk project Tune-Yards and is part of HOME, the Philharmonic’s monthlong festival celebrating the reopening of the new David Geffen Hall.
The second performance, December 6, 2022, at 7:30 p.m., is part of American Acoustic Tour and features Thile’s own band, the Grammy-winning Punch Brothers, performing alongside Americana duo Watchhouse and bluegrass singer-songwriter Sarah Jarosz.
Lineups and ticket info for the final two performances, February 14 and March 28, 2023, will be announced at a later date.
