Philadelphia rock band Soraia has released a new cover of The Knack’s “My Sharona,” the follow up to their 2021 single “Tight-Lipped,” which cracked the Billboard charts all the way up to #23 and gained support from commercial Active Rock stations around the country, including WMMR (Philadelphia), WRIF (Detroit), WRAT (New Jersey), WDHA (New Jersey), KCAL (Southern California), KFMA (Tucson, AZ), WWSK (Long Island, NY) and SiriusXM’s Underground Garage channel, among others.

Of the new cover, vocalist ZouZou Mansour says, “We were going to tour Sweden for the first time in October 2021 and I wanted to record something fun with a Swedish producer. I was driving along listening to a playlist, and I heard The Knack’s ‘My Sharona” pop on. I loved singing it and felt energized with a kind of fire, so that was the obvious choice for me! The band was down to do it, so we had Sulo Karlsson produce the track the night before going in and banging it ooout in one day in the studio. It was fast, fun, and easy!”

Soraia epitomizes raw power, unrelenting energy, chaos and freedom. With a live show that is frenetic and intensely interactive, the band’s chemistry has been cemented through years of fierce, persistent touring from the dingiest dives to the most massive amphitheaters, helping them attract a worldwide fanbase.

Frontwoman ZouZou Mansour is a spiritual descendent of iconic women in rock such as Patti Smith and Joan Jett, and the band embodies elements of kindred spirits of the ’90s and beyond – like PJ Harvey and The Kills, with more than a sprinkling of ’60s Garage Rock and Soul. Their primal sonic attack spreads a message of perseverance through trials of love, loss and letting go.
Soraia is:

ZouZou Mansour – Lead Vocals, Tambourine
Travis Smith – Bass Guitar, Backing Vocals
Mike Dudolevitch – Lead and Rhythm Guitars, Backing Vocals
Brianna Sig – Drums, Backing Vocals
John Hildenbrand – Keys
Praise for Soraia:

“All rise for the fire and euphoria of Soraia…your road to garage-rock salvation.” David Fricke, Rolling Stone/Sirius XM Radio

“Philadelphia rock quartet Soraia really knows how to put together a hypnotic rock song. Frontwoman ZouZou Mansour’s uncanny voice is perfectly pitched to the guitars and holds you close while it beguiles you. This is a put-on-repeat song.” – Shutter16 • • Instagram/Twitter: @soraiarocks
