Growing up as an immigrant, even though I felt very much part of the Canadian culture, I kind of had a different life at home. For the longest time I was encouraged by my parents to be the most white Canadian person I could be in order to do well. Now, I want to put my Syrian heritage in a positive light and show other immigrants that you can succeed on your own terms.
