|As a culture, we find ourselves not learning from the past and repeating mistakes. We’ve become polarized and desperate to feel like we belong. This results in extremes and creates conditions ripe for revolution, like Russia a hundred years ago. |
My parents were raised in communist Czechoslovakia and I was born there. I’d heard about the lines for toilet paper, but never thought I’d see that in America. People look to charlatans for salvation or try to reinvent the wheel, forgetting about love. To paraphrase Kurt Vonnegut, so it goes, and on and on.
Our single, “On and On,” captures some degree of wistfulness, but not necessarily of a better time. Good and bad have always been, but if we fight for our rights, then we have a chance to make the world a more just place. And if you’re at all like me, loud guitars and chaotic drums give you the adrenaline rush to get moving!

The song’s video was edited from full colour home videos of a family holidaying in San Diego, filmed in the 1940s. It plays up a kind of Wonder Years-esque juxtaposition of image and music that seems nostalgic in a very warm way, while being at odds with all hell breaking loose overseas during that period.
While people can be fallible, we don’t have to repeat the mistakes of the past if we stick to our beliefs. If we’re too laissez faire, that just might happen.
