The Jukebox Romantics share “Time To Fly” from forthcoming EP for Sell The Heart and Engineer Records out December 17 |
![]() The Jukebox Romantics are set to release their long awaited Fires Forming EP, a co-release between Sell The Heart Records (U.S.) and Engineer Records (UK) on December 17. Preceding the release, the band recently teamed with Punk Rock Theory to share the second single from the record, “Time To Fly.” “Early 2021, we finished the songs and were eager to find them a home. We had a pretty rough release experience with our last full-length and wanted to make sure this gem of an EP was handled with care,” says guitarist/vocalist Mike Terry. “And with that, we wanted to work with friends, because who can you trust more than friends? So, we had reached out to Andy from Sell The Heart Records ’cause we love what he’s doing with the label and more importantly, love him as a human. Engineer Records got on board as well after talking to Andy about JBR. Engineer really get behind bands that encompass a lot of our DIY ethos on touring, working hard and being genuine people. Five songs. five songs that draw a line in the sand, asking the listener to look inside themselves and see where they land internally and externally? Five songs that pack so much heart, it could only be contained on a 12inch record. That’s right a 12inch five songs EP….because that’s how we roll.” The Jukebox Romantics are in your face, fun, heartfelt punk in the vein of bands like Alkaline Trio, Samiam and The Bouncing Souls. Over the past 13 years, they have taken their talked-about live show from coast to coast including multiple appearances at Gainesville’s Fest, Vans Warped Tour, Pouzza Fest, SXSW and more. JBR’s current sound transformed in 2014 after they restructured to a trio. Since then, the band has embarked on several U.S. and European tours, further establishing their reputation as an extremely hard working band. Their last LP Sleepwalk Me Home was released in 2018 via Paper + Plastick Records. In the back half of 2021, the JBR dudes are gearing up to drop new music and hit the stage with even more fire as they return to form as a four piece. “Late summer 2019, we returned to Nada Recording studio in Montgomery, New York, to work once again with the amazing John Naclerio. John produced our 2018 record Sleepwalk Me Home and no one has understood the sounds and mood the band was trying to achieve more so than John. He has worked with a lot of amazing artists like My Chemical Romance, Polar Bear Club, Bayside and has a way of smoothing out the rough edges and getting the best out of the musicians he works with” Terry says. “So, we went into the studio in August 2019 with the idea of starting the process of a full-length. We got all the music done on five songs, but with a busy touring schedule, we left the studio with a plan to return in early 2020 to record more music for the release. We wanted to record about 15 songs and pick the best 10-12. We got held up in the writing process as we were looking to really push ourselves and then boom, pandemic,” he adds. “With the pandemic and the three of us [Terry/ Norm/ and Bobby Edge our bass player from 2014-2020 who recorded on the Fires Forming EP] living not near each other, taking the virus very seriously, we put the recording on hold until it was safe to return. “Time passed and it was finally safe to return to the studio in Fall 2020, but we were changed people. Like many, the pandemic forced a lot of introspection, changed priorities and with that came the exit of Bobby to the band right before heading back in to continue the process. But we had unfinished business and we all wanted to finish what we started together ’cause these songs fucking rule and we love and respect each other. So, we got back into Nada and brought the lyrics we had been writing for these songs over the quarantine into the vocal booth and sang our hearts out. Songs about protest, escapism, social change, personal change and loneliness. For a band that prides themselves on writing fun catchy tunes, we feel like we wrote some fun catchy ass tunes that have a ton of depth and meaning behind them besides drinking songs of punk rock pirate adventuring; nothing wrong with that either!” Since their debut album in 2009, the band has made a name for themselves by touring endlessly with ferocious, energetic live shows. By conveying heart and leaving their sweat and souls out on stage at every show, they remind you to have fun, enjoy life and never grow up.” MEMBERS: Mike Terry – Vocals/Guitar, 2008-current Mike “Norm” Normann – Drums, 2013-Current AJ Chiarella – Guitar/Vocals, 2020-Current James MacDonald – Bass/Vocals, 2021-Current SOCIAL MEDIA: Official Website – https://www.jukeboxromantics.com Bandcamp – https://thejukeboxromantics.bandcamp.com Instagram/TikTok – @ jukeboxromantics TOUR DATES: 10/29-10/31 GAINESVILLE, FL – THE FEST |
