Surf Mesa, FLETCHER & Josh Golden Photo Credit: Kristen Jan Wong Download Hi-Res Group & Solo Press Photos HERE About Surf Mesa: No matter how dark things get, Surf Mesa remains a dreamer. The 21-year-old Seattle songwriter and producer spent much of 2020 honing the escapist energy of the nostalgic electronic ballads he’s been working toward since he got a copy of FL Studio in third grade. He makes “music for good feels,” which has been a breath of fresh air in a tough year. Both of his beloved 2020 singles—“ily (i love you baby)” featuring Emilee and “Somewhere” featuring Gus Dapperton—offer romance and refuge for tired minds, drenched in gossamer synths and fueled by insistent drums. 2021’s “Carried Away” with Madison Beer, is similarly windswept and optimistic, and his newest single, “Another Life” featuring FLETCHER and Josh Golden, is an intimate dancefloor duet whose lyrics imagine a world where pain of loss has been paved over, and love blooms anew. It’s the latest example of Surf’s placid mindset, which is clearly connecting with listeners. “ily” was recently RIAA certified Platinum after over 2.6 billion global streams and over 4 billion TikTok views. The song hit #1 on Billboard’s Dance/Electronic chart and #2 on Top 40 radio, and “Somewhere” is right behind it, landing on Spotify’s hallowed New Music Friday out of the gate and garnering placements on dozens of playlists across platforms since. His whirlwind rise also earned him remixing duty on Marshmello and Halsey’s “Be Kind,” and Shawn Mendes’ “Wonder”—both fitting titles for Surf’s heartwarming music to enter mainstream EDM and pop. By 2020’s end, “ily” placed on Spotify and Amazon’s top songs lists, setting him up for even bigger successes—VEVO has named him a DSCVR Artist To Watch for 2021. And yet, after all this, he continues to make music at home alone, the same way he’s worked since he was a kid holed up in his room making beats between Counter-Strike matches. He has humble aims: to make catchy, chill pop music and give others a way to “feel better about their day.” Listening to Surf, it’s hard not to. About FLETCHER: Praised by leading outlets like TIME, NME, V Magazine, Harper’s Bazaar, Interview Magazine, GQ, and more, FLETCHER hails from Asbury Park, New Jersey, where she cultivated her passion for music and her unforgettably candid storytelling. After graduating from NYU’s famed Clive Davis Institute for Recorded Music, FLETCHER carved out a distinct space for herself in pop music, and in 2019 released her debut EP you ruined new york city for me via Capitol Records. The widely lauded EP features her breakthrough hit “Undrunk,” a track that spent several weeks on the Billboard Hot 100, scored the #1 spot on Spotify’s Viral Chart, emerged as the fastest-rising song at pop radio from a new artist in the past five years, and earned FLETCHER a nomination for iHeartRadio’s Best New Pop Artist. Over the years, FLETCHER has sold out several headline tours and landed impressive slots at Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, Life is Beautiful, and other major festivals. Released in September 2020, FLETCHER’s EP THE S(EX) TAPES hit No. 1 on iTunes across all genres and drew acclaim from outlets like Teen Vogue, SPIN, PAPER, and many others. An unfiltered look into FLETCHER’s world, the EP is a collection of magnetic and moody pop songs about feeling like you‘ve found your forever person before you find yourself and, as a result, needing to uncover the parts of you that remain unknown. The EP’s lead single “Bitter“ (with Kito) has now surpassed 150 million global streams. FLETCHER’s television performances include “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” “The Today Show” and “Ellen.” An outspoken activist of the #MeToo movement throughout her career, FLETCHER released the 2018 track “I Believe You” in support of sexual assault survivors, garnering over 50 million streams to date. She was also recently nominated for a 2021 GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Breakthrough Music Artist. FLETCHER’s track “Last Laugh” is available now on the soundtrack to the Academy Award-winning film Promising Young Woman. She recently released her new single “Healing,” a powerful anthem to reflect the times, which finds the acclaimed singer/songwriter reclaiming her inner strength. About Josh Golden: From as early as Josh can remember, the question “does the music move you emotionally?” urged him to pick up a pen, paper, and guitar to write his own destiny. Spending every waking moment in the studio, collaborating with his favorite artists, and writing songs about heartbreaks, mental health, and manifesting true love, is what inspires his current body of work. Josh’s new music is intimate, raw, and encompasses the polarity of falling in love with someone who doesn’t love themselves. With his upcoming releases, Josh lets you in on his most vulnerable self in hopes of meaningful connection with his listeners. In this chapter, Josh reinvents the meaning of Rockstar; falling somewhere comfortably between Harry Styles and Post Malone with his edgy pop melodies, sultry lyrics, and genre-bending production. To date, Josh Golden has amassed over 30 million global streams and built up a robust & loyal social following, totaling 1.2 million between TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube. Recently signed to Mike Caren’s label and publishing powerhouse APG, he has since collaborated with marquee artists like Charlie Puth, Selena Gomez, 24kGoldn, Jason Derulo, Jennifer Lopez, Tiesto, Illenium, Ava Max, and KYLE.
