Today, Capitol Music Group (CMG) announced its partnership with Song House Live and released songs from the two artists who won the first songwriting challenge of the web series. The seven participants – Alec Chambers, Caroline Carr, Attis, Diego Fragnaud, Tyler Brash, Olivia Boeyink and Klondike Blonde – are competing for the prize of an exclusive recording agreement with Capitol Records.

The groundbreaking partnership further solidifies CMG’s position at the forefront of today’s rapidly evolving artist discovery and development landscape. Much as tech accelerators provide front-end support for fledgling inventors, CMG and Song House Live are providing unrivaled assistance to emerging artists from the initial creative concept onward – before a song becomes a viral hit.

President and COO of Capitol Music Group Michelle Jubelirer said, “Partnering with Song House Live presents Capitol with a unique opportunity in that it allows us to discover and nurture rising talent in real-time. Together with the Song House Live team, we’re able to meet fans where they consume music faster than ever by accelerating the traditional artist development process through this innovative concept.”

The contestants are spending six weeks in a luxury mansion, nestled on a 40-acre estate in upstate New York, complete with a natural lake, tennis court, swimming pool and multiple recording studios. Each week, they receive a new musical challenge. With cameras streaming the experience 24/7 on YouTube, they must write, record and promote the resulting songs.

In the first songwriting challenge, the contestants were charged with writing a song about a particular city or country. One at a time, they played dizzy bat and placed their painted hands on a giant map to discover which country they would be writing about. Fans watched online as each artist wrote and recorded their song snippets, which received nearly five million combined streams. Both artists were given the opportunity to complete their songs, which were released today by Capitol Records.

Over the course of the competition, Capitol will continue to release music from the contestants in various formats, culminating in the release of a Song House Live Season 1 compilation. Song House Live dropped a sneak peek teaser of what’s to come in the next few months, from a deep dive into the creative process to having a front row seat on the emotional journeys of these artists and influencers as they produce exciting new songs while enduring the pressures of living together and nurturing their own respective fanbases.

The show features music production by producer/entrepreneur Kato On The Track, who has hit the Billboard charts five times, working with GRAMMY®-nominated, multi-Platinum artists including Tyga, Joyner Lucas, Snoop Dogg, E40, B.o.B, Tory Lanez, K Camp, Hopsin, Jarren Benton and more. Other hitmaker collaborators will appear throughout the summer. Song House Live was created by Billy Mann and Benton James in collaboration with Rainmaker Holding Group’s Clay Pecorin, Russell Geyser, Jason Halio and Zak Tanjeloff.

“Watching these artists churn out viral sound ideas has been amazing, but working with Capitol Records is the real game-changer of this entire project,” said Benton James, who has consistently signed platinum hit-making producers and songwriters who have worked with a long list of A-list artists from Drake and Wiz Khalifa to Kelly Rowland. “To be able to amplify these artists and this music on such a legendary label is proof of concept in so many ways.”

Clay Pecorin of Rainmaker said, “The entire Song House team is thrilled to partner with Capitol Records to help us further the careers of these self-starting talents and launch them into the greater marketplace. We love how this show illustrates the fast-moving digital environment for young artists in real-time, but we’re equally excited about capturing the stories behind each of these talents, how they got this far and what happens when the cameras are being held by others and not in their own hands.”

GRAMMY-Award-winning hit producer/songwriter Billy Mann said, “The best part of Song House Live is actually the not knowing what will happen with these artists who collectively entered the competition with millions of fans before any of us arrived. I love how this cuts to the nerve of a critical debate in our industry between the importance of data versus the alleged ‘dark arts’ of A&R. Some of these contestants have already been signed and dropped. Some of them have kept their musical dreams quiet while amassing millions of fans around niche lifestyle posts. Some have been posting covers for years to build a base and felt stuck. Rainmaker and Capitol Records together means that we have top-shelf story-telling and record-making available to these talents and I can’t wait to see how it unfolds.”
