*The Following Press Release Was Issued By Eamon McGrath*
Haunting yet hopeful; twangy yet sludgy; kinetic yet tranquil. My new single featuring Cayley Thomas is paradoxical in its nature, a reflection of the dichotomies that create the constant turmoil of the modern world. Stream “Cannonball“ ft. Cayley Thomas on Spotify, Apple Music and SoundCloud, from my upcoming full-length album Bells of Hope. “Cannonball“ was written as an ode to the Americana-focused aspects of my musical influences, in particular the psychedelic country of Gram Parsons and Lee Hazlewood. Throughout my career, I’ve been described, labelled and pigeonholed as a “punk rocker,” but being from Alberta, country music beautifully soundtracked the landscape of my upbringing and over the last few years, I’ve made a conscious effort to distance myself from those initial trapping descriptors. |

Artwork by Eric Willis Instagram / Facebook / Twitter “Cannonball“ refers to an object that is both kinetic and stationary in its nature: a massive piece of metal, impossible to move, until the moment it is flying through the air so fast that there is no chance or hope of slowing it down. In some ways it is a metaphor for a musician on tour, powerless against the emotional forces that propels one down the highway, yet completely grounded and unmoving in the state of isolation wherein the song itself was recorded. It alludes to the chance to reflect and look back on moments of your life as a musician with fondness and longing, but also a deep realization that they will never return.
