New Music Video for Bruce Lee Band’s “Division in the Heartland”

SAN JOSE, CA — March 31, 2021 — Today, the Bruce Lee Band released the video for “Division in the Heartland,” the lead single and title track off their upcoming EP, via Asian Man Records. The video combines the song’s evocative political message with a powerful time-lapse painting from artist Gilbert Armendariz that highlights the track’s themes of domestic strife and powerlessness.

The band will be auctioning the art featured in the video to raise money for charity. Armendariz’s original painting, which measures 45″ by 38″, will be signed by all of the band’s members and the artist, with all proceeds going to the nonprofit Stop AAPI Hate. The auction, open to US bidders, will take place on the Asian Man Records eBay page and end on Saturday, April 3.

Taking just three days to record their incoming EP, the Bruce Lee Band channeled COVID-imposed restlessness and broader anger at the state of the union into a taut, take-no-prisoners EP. As much a vital dispatch to the nation as it was a necessary emotional exhale for this team of close friends and collaborators, lead single “Division in the Heartland” turns the scarily isolating nature of modern politics into a cathartic group therapy session.

Division in the Heartland will release May 28 through all major streaming platforms, as well as physically on limited-edition 12” random colored vinyl through Asian Man Records.

The Bruce Lee Band is Mike Park (Skankin’ Pickle, Bruce Lee Band) on vocals/saxophone, Jeff Rosenstock on bass/keys/saxophone, Dan Potthast (MU330) on guitar, and Kevin Higuchi (Jeff Rosenstock) on drums.
