Pop artist Sam Sun has established himself as a powerful singer-songwriter, known for conjuring up tunes chockfull of soul and melancholy.
His most recent single “Remember When” talks about the mental stresses of past heartbreaks and has since accumulated over 100,000 streams across all platforms since its mid-April 2020 release. It was also featured on the “New From NYC: POP” Spotify Editorial Playlist, holding the 40th spot out of 100 songs.
The Music Bugle had the opportunity to talk with Sun about his music and more.
Music Bugle – Does social media make it easier or harder to stand out as an artist?
Sam Sun – Yes, it actually does.
Music Bugle – What made you want to become a pop musician?
Sam Sun – I’ve been heavily inspired by Michael Jackson and other pop predecessors and I enjoy the energy, feeling and vibe. I love to use music to connect and get people into the groove.
Music Bugle – What is the most frustrating aspect of today’s music industry?
Sam Sun – Promotion and links, kind of.
Music Bugle – What is your favorite set of lyrics?
Sam Sun – Sad lyrics.
Music Bugle – Has the COVID-19 pandemic affected you in any way?
Sam Sun – Yeah, partly in terms of show performances.
Music Bugle – What inspired you to write your latest single?
Sam Sun – Sad memories from years behind that I couldn’t hold together anymore.
Music Bugle – Of course, this depends on how the COVID-19 pandemic plays out, but did you have any set of plans for the rest of 2020?
Sam Sun – Touring, exactly.
Music Bugle – What should people know about you as a person?
Sam Sun – I am simple and sweet.
Music Bugle – If you had the chance to talk to one of your musical influences, who would it be?
Sam Sun – Eminem.

Sam Sun – Absolutely!
