“While most dark-pop artists lyrically keep it dark throughout, Mystic is about ultimately finding the light. As Mackenzie tells her story in a beautifully scripted and vocally stunning scenario, like a musical novel that you can’t put down”

“Five Months, Four Days” is an emotionally intense earworm in which Mackenzie describes a white-knuckled struggle hold onto someone who never held her dear to begin with. It is only upon letting go that she finally realizes her love is not strong enough to change him. Nothing is… “Five Months, Four Days” describes five months and four days of turbulence and chaos. This is as close to a “love song” as one will find on Mystic, detailing the complexity of maintaining an unhealthy but addictive relationship.” explains Mackenzie

“Five Months. Four Days” is the second song and accompanying video that continues the musical journey of Mystic. I wanted to do a concept album and video series about the stages of mental health. The first chapter is the dark chapter. It’s “The Rabbit Hole.” The second is the transitional chapter “Purgatory.” The final light chapter is “Oxygen.” It’s about how recovery isn’t a two-stop journey. It’s a process.”
In the Spring of 2018, Mackenzie unveiled her debut album, The Edge. Its songs tallied over 1 million Spotify streams, and her videos totaled 8 million-plus views as Mackenzie was experiencing an emotional breakdown she suffered in silence. Thankfully she sought out help. “When my psychiatrist diagnosed me with bipolar I disorder, I felt a sense of relief. Finally, the aforementioned beast had a face, a shape, a name, and, better yet, a kryptonite. Thus, began my process of recovery, I wanted to make this music because it’s a story I needed to tell, I’m not the only person who’s been through this. Maybe I can help others avoid making some of the mistakes I did.” explains Mackenzie
