While the lyrics keep an air of ambiguity, this track comes from a place of self-doubt, self-pity.
A kind of self-reflective anthem for those who wind up spending most of their time reflecting on the past – their mistakes, what could’ve been, what should’ve been.
“Brain Suck” is an ode to unrequited love.
My goal with the video was to capture the exhilarating energy and emotion of experiencing Shade play the song live for the first time. To me, this is how it feels when they perform. A dizzyingly colourful assault of brit rock hooks and grunge riffs witnessed through a constantly moving pupil.
