Victoria-based Dylan Perkons’ debut is a collection of richly orchestral songs that tell the story of an experienced songwriter finally stepping out to record under his own name. Perkons has spent his career working on various projects, honing his craft both on the road and in the studio, so while The Healing Day is his first solo outing, it represents a much longer journey.

“This song was originally inspired by the dissolution of one relationship but, as it evolved it became more of a mantra for myself. It was a way of owning up to the person I’ve been in the past while also trusting in the growth I know will come. A reminder that I can love without fear while also being accountable to myself and others. Relationships are never as black and white as we’d like them to be and never without tremendous risk but we often learn so much about ourselves through our most painful mistakes.
