| Keep in touch with us on: Instagram ↯ Twitter ↯ Facebook Our new album, Live Wires, Black Sheep, draws inspiration from love, heartbreak, self-medicating and feeling guilty for it; seeing ourselves repeating mistakes borne of class and political divisions. Joyful songs with sorrowful lyrics; minor key riffs over doo-wop chord progressions. In essence, it’s the sound of us grappling with a variety of existential crises to a danceable backbeat, loud guitars and melodies that are deceptively simple. Live Wires, Black Sheep features “Goodbye,” a melancholic song of resignation about a break up after a long, sometimes dysfunctional relationship–the good, the bad, the ugly and the reflective. Can you balance all the finger-pointing with everything you did wrong? Sometimes you find yourself in a situation that you know is not where you want to be, but the alternative is quiet, still, and uneventful. Or is being alone really the chaotic and toxic experience–especially when you’re younger? Hear our new record, Live Wires, Black Sheep, wherever you get your music. Produced by Howard Redekopp (New Pornographers, Tegan and Sara) for his How Weird Sounds label, it was recorded mostly live over two days at Rain City Recorders in East Vancouver. In creating Live Wires, Black Sheep, we learned that if you put your heart and the hours into it, you can record live as a band and achieve a sound that can’t be replicated by overdubbing all your parts separately. Only these four people could have made this record and that makes it a document we are all proud of. Thanks for taking the time to check out our music, Loose Fang |
