| Anticipated by the single “Twenty Something,” already included in the Rock Italia playlist on Spotify and premiered internationally on Idioteq, “The Physical Impossibility of Death in the Mind of Someone Living” is the new EP by Six Impossible Things, released on September 27, 2023 on Dear Gear Records on vinyl and all digital platforms. LISTEN TO THE EP: https://siximpossiblethingsvi.bandcamp.com/album/the-physical-impossibility-of-death-in-the-mind-of-someone-living This is the first work in which the band adopts a full band sound as opposed to the more minimalist previous setup: in fact, Nicky Fodritto’s keyboards and Lorenzo Di Girolamo’s guitar, the founding souls of the project, are joined by Enrico Tosti’s bass and Andrea Daniele’s drums, adding an extra push and a whole new organicity to the songs, while keeping completely intact the purity and intimate feel that have always distinguished Six Impossible Things’ songs. The band comments: “’The Physical Impossibility of Death in the Mind of Someone Living,’ our new EP, explores themes of isolation, nostalgia and inner demons in the face of this new decade’s vast wasteland. Coming back home from recording our second EP in Southampton, UK, we found ourselves in Codogno, a small Italian town where the first case of COVID-19 in Europe was discovered. With our hometown under lockdown and not being allowed to see each other for months, we started stringing together songs of introspective tales with a refined and refreshed take on Six Impossible Things’ classic sound.” “’The Physical Impossibility of Death in the Mind of Someone Living’ is an artwork created in 1991 by Damien Hirst, an English artist and a leading member of the Young British Artists. It consists of a preserved tiger shark submerged in formaldehyde in a glass-panel display case. In keeping with the piece’s title, the shark is simultaneously life and death incarnate in a way you don’t quite grasp until you see it, suspended and silent, in its tank. It gives the innately demonic urge to live a demonic, deathlike form.” The ever progressive duo keep true to their anxious outlook on life, carefully avoiding repetition. With a cast of talented contributors such as bassist Enrico Tosti, drummer Andrea Daniele and producer Maurizio Baggio, “The Physical Impossibility of Death in the Mind of Someone Living” showcases a new and essential side of the band’s trademark sadcore.
