‘The Fifth Mechanism’ is a 5 song EP with more than 20 minutes of modern, powerful, melodic yet straightforward rock. 5 iconic songs, each with its own character and proper sound.
Less is more, some say: the idea behind this 5 song EP is to deliver a fewer amount of musical pieces, but offering a wider display of styles and tastes, making every song sound unique.

…For the record…

CHARLES IN THE KITCHEN was founded in early 2011 with the basic aim of playing one single gig of rock covers in a kitchen for Easter. It happened: the band’s five members invited a whole lot of friends and almost made the house collapse.

A while after, they thought that it would be a pity not to try and play some more, and they started creating their own songs. They took their time, played a few more gigs, and came up with a list of 12 rock songs that were released as their first album in March 2015. They then increased speed and wrote a second album that got released on local label Division Records in September 2016.

The band played gigs around Switzerland for a while, got a new drummer and released a nice 7” split single with local grunge heroes Them Stones.

Now is the time for more fresh material: a brand new record is coming to life soon on Division Records,  .
